Below is a complete list of the funds held at Clare County Community Foundation
Amante’ Young Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior of a Central Michigan high school in the Jackpine Conference who is planning to enroll in post-secondary education, participates in the school wrestling program, and has the highest record of wrestling pins within the conference (the tie breaker shall be determined by grade point average).
Anthony and Carol Santini Family Endowment Fund: To further the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Beacom Family Community Investment Fund: To further the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Ben Walters Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: The mission of this fund is to provide an annual scholarship award to one or more graduating seniors from Clare High School who are pursuing a skilled trades or technical field of study. Students attending Mid-Michigan Community College will be given preference.
Brighter Futures Fund: Supports nonprofit and public organizations who are striving to continue, expand, sustain, and/or launch new programs that address the needs of Clare County youth ages 0-18 and their families.
Charles E. Pardue Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to graduates of Harrison Community High School who are pursuing an education in the Skilled or Advanced Technical Trades which includes but is not limited to welding engineering, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning, automotive service technology, or mechanical or electrical engineering.
Charles and Dorothy Ashcraft Fund: To further the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Clare County Agricultural Society Endowment Fund: Supports the mission of the CCAS to promote and advance the interest of agriculture, horticulture, household arts, and mechanic arts and sciences, and all kindred sciences and arts in their varied branches.
Clare County Community Foundation Administrative Fund: To support the ongoing administration of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Clare County Community Foundation Community Investment Fund: Further the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Clare County Health Improvement Fund: To provide grants in support of community-wide health initiatives, with priority given to at-risk or low-income residents within Clare County.
Clare County Healthy Youth/Healthy Seniors Endowment Fund: Support issues which support healthy youth and healthy seniors, such as smoking and substance abuse prevention and cessation, violence and conflict resolution, access to dental care, community alternatives for recreation, child care, pharmaceutical issues, preventing and managing chronic disease, long-term care alternatives, mental health and aging, workforce and aging, etc.
Clare County Historical Society Endowment Fund: To provide grants in support of the Clare County Historical Society. The purpose of the Clare County Historical Society is to preserve, advance and disseminate knowledge of the history of Clare County and surrounding area.
Clare County Kiwanis Career Technical Scholarship Fund: To provide annual awards for graduating seniors of all Clare County accredited High Schools pursuing post secondary studies in Career Technical and Certification programs. These programs may be fulfilled at four year university or colleges, community colleges, or accredited career technical post-secondary institutions.
Clare County Youth Fund: Support the work of the Youth Advisory Committee in Clare County in accordance with the guidelines and expectations of the CMF and WK Kellogg Foundation.
Clare Public Schools Endowment Fund: Supports the mission of the Clare Public Schools to provide students quality education and the skills necessary to be competent, productive, and contributing members of society.
Clare Soccer Complex Project Fund: To support the construction of a new recreational outdoor soccer facility in Clare.
David A. and Kathleen S. Ferguson Donor-advised Family Fund: Provide grants to nonprofit organizations in support of the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Detective 1st Lt. William L. & Shirley M. Burns Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award(s) to one or more graduating seniors from Clare High School who will be entering a higher education program to study criminal justice or will be entering directly into a law enforcement training program. Additional factors for consideration shall be school extracurricular activities and community service.
Dr. David Bremer and Family Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a Clare High School graduating senior. The most important criteria for the successful applicant will be financial need, limited additional options for assistance, and a true desire to pursue higher education.
Edith Irene (Stinchcombe) Gieseler Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduate of Farwell Public Schools who is pursuing an education in horticulture, floriculture or floral design, or early elementary education.
Ethan A. Gage Memorial Endowment Fund: Purpose: To provide grants in support of the Clare Michigan Fire Department. Grants are to be made for any general operating purpose including but not exclusive to: training assistance, equipment needs, children's programs, etc.
Farwell Area Schools Endowment Fund: Purpose: To provide students a quality education and the skills necessary to be competent, productive and contributing members of society.
Fred Doherty Scholarship Fund: Provide an annual scholarship award to the Clare High School graduating senior who a) lettered in football during his senior year and b) has the highest GPA on the football team.
Gary J. Stocking Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a Harrison High School graduating senior who is seeking a degree in the field of medicine, nursing or mortuary.
Harrison District Library - Surrey House Renovation Project Fund: To provide for the design, development, and renovation of the Surrey House as the new location for the Harrison District Library. If monies remain in the fund upon the completion of the building renovation, it is intended that the fund be converted into the designated endowment, the purpose of which will be the upkeep, maintenance of the library building and to support the general mission of the Harrison District Library.
Harrison Kiwanis Club Endowed Scholarship Fund: Provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior from Harrison High School who is also a member of the Key Club.
Harrison Women’s Association Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a female seeking a post secondary education or pursuing a technical training education. The applicant must reside in the Harrison School District and display a financial need.
Helen Lucile Doherty Scholarship Endowment for the Fine and Performing Arts: Provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior of Clare High School for the purpose of pursuing higher education for the study of the fine arts or the performing arts.
House Family Endowed Scholarship Fund: Provide an annual scholarship award to a Harrison Community High School graduating senior with a grade point average of 2.5 or above who is seeking a post-secondary college, university, or technical training education. Preference will be given to applicants who are first-generation college students and/or have financial needs.
Jamie A. Blow Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Scholarship Fund: To provide annual scholarship awards to women who are graduating from Clare High School and are pursuing post-secondary education in a STEM related field of study. Preference will be given to but is not exclusive to students who have overcome challenges, have financial need, and have shown a potential to succeed in post-secondary education..
Joe Johnston Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a student(s) graduating from Clare High School in the year of the award.
John A. and Audrey Brown Memorial Endowment Fund: To provide grants in support of general health and wellness to enhance the lives of Clare County citizens. In addition, these grants may address medical issues affecting Clare County citizens.
Kathy Rynearson Homelessness Prevention Services Endowment Fund: Supports creation of new activities or the expansion of existing services that increase housing stability and permanency for at-risk households.
Kinne-Millard Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award in memory of Gladys Kinne and Margaret Millard to a graduate of Harrison High School who had a 3.0 grade point average or better and displays a financial need and is attending a state supported Michigan college or University.
Larry L. and Mignon Laverty Designated Fund: To provide annual grants to Farwell Area Schools to support the science programs and expenses as follows: Farwell High School 33%, Farwell Middle School 33%, and Farwell Elementary School 33%.
Letherer Truss Community Fund: Provide grants to nonprofit organizations in support of the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Mark E. Carlstrom Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior at Harrison Community Schools who has been in a leadership position sometime during his/her high school career and has exhibited good character and sportsmanship.
Matthew J. Reinke Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior at Harrison Community Schools who has achieved a 3.0 grade point average or better and plans a career in teaching at the elementary or secondary level. If there is no qualifying applicant in this curriculum then the field of education is open. The recipient must have participated and lettered in at least one varsity sport or in band. If the applicant lettered in a varsity sport, the scholarship application must include a letter of recommendation from a varsity coach which testifies to the applicant's traits of good character and sportsmanship following Matt's philosophy, "the only thing worse than losing is quitting".
Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters Endowment Fund: Supports the mission and operations of Big Brothers Big Sisters Mid Michigan which is to create and support one to one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Mid Michigan Community Action Agency Endowment Fund: Supports the mission of the Mid Michigan Community Action Agency to empower low income persons to become more self-sufficient by providing them with the resources, skills, knowledge, and motivation to improve their economic condition and develop strong family, social, and community interactions.
Mid-Michigan Industries Endowment Fund: Supports the missions of Mid-Michigan Industries to provide jobs and training for persons with barriers to employment.
Northern Michigan Mobile Child Advocacy Center Endowment Fund: To bring education, prevention, intervention and advocacy services to children and families in rural counties who do not have access to a child advocacy center.
PMRT Gateway Link Fund: Assist with the expenses of designing, developing, and constructing a linear park on the Pere-Marquette Railroad bed from Coleman through Isabella County to the west city limits of Clare.
Paesens Family Memorial Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to one or more graduates from Farwell Area Schools who have earned a varsity letter and who demonstrate leadership and moral character.
Paula Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to one or more graduating seniors from Farwell High School who is entering into a higher education nursing program. Preference will be given to those entering into a bachelor's degree program. Further determining factors are grade point average, school extracurricular activities and community service. Each to be considered, none should be weighted more heavily than another.
Pere Marquette District Library Endowment Fund: To provide the Pere Marquette District Library with resources to enrich its many programs, collections and services, while reinforcing the need for continued and increased public support for the Library.
Reine M. Doherty Community Fund: Further the mission of the Clare County Community Foundation.
Reine M. Doherty Scholarship Fund: Provide an annual scholarship award to the Clare High School graduating senior who a) lettered in softball during her senior year and b) had the highest GPA on the softball team.
Richard Dean and Evelynn Fay Koontz Memorial Endowment Fund: To provide grants to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clare to support the needs of children residing in Clare County and their sponsor (no residency required) to enable those children to participate in activities that they might not otherwise be able to enjoy. Needs being defined but not limited to: program expense, admissions, travel expenses, clothing necessary to participate, and/or food.
Richard and Evelynn Fay Koontz Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide one or more annual scholarship award(s) to a graduate of Clare High School who will be pursuing a degree or certification from a university, community college, or trade school.
Steven Lee Grim Family Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior at Farwell High School who is pursuing post-secondary education in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) field. Community involvement and volunteerism will be additional criteria for selection. If all factors are equal, preference will be given to applicants with financial need.
Terry and Carleen Moore Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a student who is pursuing an education in the allied health profession and attending Mid Michigan Community College.
The Clare County Youth and Recreation Endowment Fund: To provide grants to support the enhancement of recreation for all and quality of life for youth in Clare County.
The Duane and Betty Miller Scholarship Fund is to provide a scholarship award to 1+ graduating seniors who have participated in the large animal livestock program and sale at the Clare County Fair for a minimum of three years and are pursuing a degree or certification at an educational or vocational training certified organization.
The Larry and Anne Smith Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a Harrison High School graduating senior who a) has maintained a 2.5 minimum grade point average, b) exhibits an outstanding attitude toward school and community, and c) is pursuing education at an accredited college, university, or trade school. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need.
The Pere Marquette Rail Trail Gap Project Fund: To provide for the design, development and construction of the completion of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail gap in Clare County. Any remaining dollars in the fund after the project is complete will transition into an endowed maintenance and improvement fund for the Pere Marquette Rail Trail in Clare County.
The R. William & Janice Horwood Family Endowment Scholarship Fund: To provide annual scholarship awards to one or more graduating seniors from Clare High School who have demonstrated activity & participation in the community, successful academic performance and participation in school extracurricular actives. All three criteria should be apparent and none should be weighted more heavily than the other.
The Sons of The American Legion Squadron 404 Endowed Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior of Clare, Farwell, or Harrison high school who will be attending a college or trade school that has displayed leadership and community involvement at school, church, or an organization such as 4-H or Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. The recipient must have a parent or grandparent that has served in the Military in some capacity and must provide proof of this service.
Volunteer Center of Clare County Endowment Fund: Supports the mission of “responsible volunteers enhancing the opportunity of the people of Clare County to care for one another.”
William "Bill" & Alice "Marion" Hileman Memorial Scholarship Fund: To provide an annual scholarship award to one or more graduating seniors from Harrison High School who are entering into a higher education within a college, university, or trade school. Preference will be given to a student(s) demonstrating a desire to learn via higher education.
